Second set of Hew Horizon weapons concepts. Note that these are designed solely for looks, i really didn't take into account their functionality.
Weapons are not drawn to scale relative to each other. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INFO:
1st Column:
Repeater Rifle: High powered medium-grade assault weapon popular with militias. It's relative low cost comes with good reliability. Has integrated flash light and laser targeting.
Outdated Repeater Rifle: Outdated by several decades, this weapon is still in wide use, especially by militias and pirates. It's cheap and rugged, but at the cost of accuracy and range. Has integrated laser sight.
Assault Cannon: Large assult rifle-level weapon with extremely large ammo capacity. Designed to be used by Vanir and smaller Jotuns (or mechanized combat armor), this weapon is unwieldy by anyone weaker due to it's massive 375 round magazine. Has built-in gun camera with multi-spectrum sight and laser pointer.
Railgun: Massive weapon for Jotuns only. Designed for anti armor, this weapon deals tremendous damage but has a low rate of fire. Massive recoil and weight makes this too unwieldy even for Vanirs.
Jotun Assault Rifle: Large assault rifle for Jotuns (although usable with twos hands for Vanirs). Uses 45-cal high velocity ammunition for maximum armor piercing. The gun has an option mini-grenade launcher attachment. Also has integrated laser pointer.
Futuristic Crossbow: Crossbow with some sci-fi touch. Other wise no differences. Launches an array of bolts. Has a built-in LCD ammo display and laser sight.
Spec-Ops Assault Rifle: Small bullpup assault rifle designed for special ops. Has decent ammo capacity and built-in laser sight.
Aquillon Beam Saber: Basic mass produced beam saber from Aquillon faction. Nothing special about it other than it cuts well fast, but burns out the power core just as fast.
Zen Blade: Massive metalic sword with unnatural sharpness. Molecular-Synthesize alloys makes the blade practically indestructible. This technique doesn't come cheap, though.
Ripple Blade: Short Ornamental blade. Not meant to be used for combat, but can deal some nasty wounds.
Beam Smasher: Large Buster-sword weapon that mixes energy and mass into a balanced weapon. Super-heated crystals allows the weapon to slice cleanly through most materials, while the mass gives it a large momentum. Only Vanirs and Jotuns can wield this, due to it's mass.
Chain Sword: Just like any other chainsword. Primary uses is to scare people.
High-End Beam Smasher: Same as the one above, but double-edged and much higher quality. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- All Art (c) New Horizon (~Lysekoid) Art and Design by me.
No point in denying it... epic win. I wish I could draw like that. I have a whole arsenal of weapons that are just itching to be jotted down, but all of my scamitics look like crap. I enjoy ranting about flaws in people's designs, but the only thing I'm seeing as impossible (beyond all the technology that doesn't exist yet) is that 375 rounds being the size of the ones depicted couldn't fit in the described barrel of the chain gun if the round and the ammo drum were drawn to scale. excellent job. kudos
the only thing i have a problem with is.. rail guns are recoiless.. its a set of magnetic rails launching a hunk of metal.. there's no recoil.. and it would be relatively silent
That's impossible. You throw out a piece of metal, the conservation of momentum will force your gun in the opposite direction. The only differences the rail slug doesn't accelerates at the same rate as the explosive force of a bullet, thus the force of recoil is less per instant of time. There is no such thing as a recoiless weapon as long as the object being thrown out is in contact with you the weapon. The only weapon that is near recoiless is a bazooka where the backblast conserves most of the momentum. Even a laser has recoil.
the object doesn't really have contact with the weapon, it works pretty much exactly like a bazooka except there is no need to have an exhaust port out the back for the backwash. it would have a recoil pretty damn close to firing a missile launcher. seriously.. look up how they work in theory.. also the military is looking at possible shoulder mounted rail guns in the next 20 years or so.
Not physically possible. The metal slug pulls is pushed by the magnetic field, which acts on the weapon itself. These are physical laws, they do no break under any circumstance.
I've taken enough Physics to know what I'm talking about. momentum is a vector quantity, and it's always conserved. You shoot out a slug in the forward direction, and opposite momentum must be applied to the object that initially held it. No super sci-fi or fancy 90+ page paper is going to change that law of physics.
I can assure you anything you look up will ultimately lead you to what I just said.
Since I haven't said it formally or publicly yet... You sir, are the shit. It will be a dark day for NH when we will no longer be able to hire out to you for your amazing concept art.
